Privacy Policy

We collect your email address if you subscribe, the messages you send us, and standard analytics about how the site is used. We measure whether our newsletter emails are opened and which links in them are clicked. We do not sell personal information, we do not show ads, and we do not use anyone's data for targeted advertising.

• Newsletter sign-ups: your email address, the page you signed up on, the time you consented and the wording you agreed to. We may add your first name so emails can greet you by name.
• Newsletter measurement: each newsletter email contains a small image and links that are unique to you. When the image loads or a link is clicked, our server records the time, your IP address, your browser or mail app details and approximate location. Some mail apps load images automatically, so an "open" does not always mean you read the email.
• Email you send us: the message itself, and for conversations, the addresses, subjects and message identifiers needed to keep replies in the same thread.
• Website analytics: Google Analytics records pages visited, the referring site, device and browser type and approximate location, and sets cookies to do so.

To send the research updates you asked for, answer your messages, understand which of our pages and emails are useful, and improve our ratings. We do not use it for anything else.

• Resend sends and receives our email.
• Amazon Web Services hosts the site and our database.
• Google Analytics provides website analytics.

• Newsletter subscriptions: until you unsubscribe. We keep a record that you unsubscribed so we don't email you again.
• Newsletter measurement: IP addresses and full request details are deleted after 90 days; the time and type of each open or click are kept.
• Email conversations: for as long as they are useful to answer you, or until you ask us to delete them.
• Google Analytics data: retained under Google Analytics' data retention settings.

Every newsletter email has an unsubscribe link. To see, export or delete the personal information we hold about you, email hello@thelearningstandard.org and we will respond within 30 days. You can block analytics cookies in your browser, and turning off automatic image loading in your mail app stops open measurement.

This site is written for parents, educators and school staff. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us their information, email us and we will delete it.
