What Happened
The University of Colorado (CU) finalized a three-year, $2 million agreement with OpenAI to provide ChatGPT Edu to all students, faculty, and staff. CU initially planned to launch the tool in the spring, but administrators paused the rollout after faculty members raised contract concerns. During this delay, the university expanded its AI strategic steering committee and launched a website with mandatory training modules. Students must complete this training to access the campus license.
Some critics say significant issues remain.
